Have You Ever Heard About White Tea?
In the previous post I talked about the benefits of the black tea. So now you know how beneficial green and black teas are. Today I will talk about health benefits of the white tea which is less popular than the other teas in the West.
Practically white tea comes from the same plant like the other types of tea Camellia sinensis plant, but the manufacturing process is different. The leaves are picked and harvested before the leaves open fully, when the buds are still covered by fine white hair. That’s why it is called white tea. Because of the difficult process and the specific time of production the white tea is a little bit more expensive than the other types of tea.
While green tea can stimulate your immune system to fight with the organisms that cause different diseases, scientist researches have proved that white tea can destroy these organisms while they are in vitro.
See what Milton Schiffenbauer, Ph.D says about white tea:
“Our research shows White Tea Extract can actually destroy in vitro the organisms that cause disease. Study after study with tea extract proves that it has many healing properties. This is not an old wives tale, it’s a fact.”
The white tea extract (WTE) has many healthy benefits. I think these can be of some interest of you.
- inactivating the bacterial viruses
- greater anti bacterial and anti viral effect
- prevents the caries and that’s why white tea is an ingredient of many toothpastes.
- white tea extract has anti-fungal effect on Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Penicillium chrysogenum
Other interesting fact is that the white tea contains less caffeine compared to the other types of teas (15mg) and the green tea contains 20mg and 40mg in the black tea.
There is a hedge variety of white tea as with all other teas.
Some of them I know:
- white cloud
- white peony
- golden moon
- silver needle
- and many others
Most are produced in China and Japan, but а part of the good white tea comes from different regions of India.
If you are drinking tea, because of its healthy benefits I suggest you to try white tea.
It can also help you preventing cancer, because of its active antioxidant ingredients.
