Benefits of Green Tea – Increase Fat Loss part I
Do you know why green tea is so popular?
Over the past few years the green tea made a huge breakthrough in health industry, because of its excellent health and weight loss benefits. More and more people are trying to find info about green tea and even more people are sharing their successful weight loss experience with green tea products.
The most important benefit of green tea is fat loss
One of the most important health benefits of green tea is its fat loss effect. Green tea is good at fat burning because it is very rich in green tea polyphenols (most of them are the catechins). The strongest catechin in green tea is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG).
A recent research on animals (mice) showed that EGCG increases the fat burning rates and reduces the fat and calorie absorption from food. Here are the results:
- Mice given 0.5% EGCG in their food weighed 6.7% less after one month and had 25.4% less body fat compared to the other controlled mice that were eating the same food without the EGCG
- When the EGCG in food was doubled to 1% – the results doubled as well – mice weighted 12.3% less after one month and had 34.4e% less body fat
