Benefits of Green Tea – Increase Fat Loss part II

Here are a few human studies for weight and fat loss effect of green tea:

A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, was made with 10 healthy men, divided into two groups:

  • test group was given green tea extract containing 90 mg epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG – the main ingredient in green tea extract) and 50 mg caffeine
  • the placebo group

The results of the study showed that the group taking green tea extract had greater increase in energy expenditure (up to 4.5%), thermogenesis (up to 4%) and fat burn for a period of 24 hours, compared to the placebo group.

The test group burned 266 calories more daily while taking the green tea extract, compared to placebo group.

If you think that 266 calories are simply to enough, I must tell you that you need to burn only a small amount of extra calories every day to lose weight and keep it off.
