Benefits of Green Tea – Anti-Aging Effect
Hello friends, just as I promised, I continue to list the benefits of green tea in details. Today it’s the anti-aging effect of green tea.
As you already know, most of the listed benefits of green tea are for your inside, but you should know that green tea is great for your outside as well. What I mean is your skin and especially your face skin.
Green tea is used as an ingredient in many skin care products, such as body and face skin lotions, moisturizers, creams, even hair shampoos.
Green tea improves your skin in two ways:
- with its powerful antioxidant properties green tea protects your skin from the damaging oxidative free radicals, which are one of the reasons for aging
- if topically applied to your skin green tea acts as an UV sun protection lotion from the ultraviolet rays (reducing the risk of sunburn); it is the UV radiation that creates free radicals and cause oxidative damage to your skin, which cause skin aging
What do scientific studies show?
After two months of regular use of green tea skin care products, the skin elasticity increases and that makes it look firm and less wrinkled.
A recent scientific research made by Dr. Hsu, a professor and biologist at the Medical College of Georgia, has confirmed that the anti-aging effect of green tea is due to the polyphenols contained in it.
The green tea polyphenols fight the damaging free radicals. They affect positively both new and older skin cells by causing faster generation and growth of the new skin cells and activation of the older cells.
That research proves that green tea not only protects the skin cells, but also is able to reverse the signs of aging.
More scientific studies show that green tea skin care products improve not only skin aging, but many other skin problems. Read about them in the next post…
